Groove Sealants
A sealant is a plastic material applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, premolars and molars. It acts as a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids in pits and fissures, common in children's teeth, and thus helps prevent tooth decay.
As long as the sealant remains intact, the tooth surface will be protected from decay. Sealants hold well under the force of normal chewing and usually last several years before a reapplication is needed.

Deciduous Pulpotomies
A deep cavity in a child's tooth may go into the nerve or pulp of the tooth. A pulpotomy is recommended to save the tooth.
Similar to a root canal treatment of an adult tooth, a pulpotomy removes all the coronal pulp tissue from the chamber of the tooth, which is then replaced with a filling. It prevents unnecessary loss of teeth.
Your child's baby teeth are important to save in order to maintain the space for their adult teeth. If the tooth is pulled then the space needed for the adult tooth will be lost leading to crowding and future need of braces.
